Manchester United could be without Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Luke Shaw for the Liverpool game on Monday, according to a report.

The Independent state that the duo are suffering from lack of fitness and as a result could miss the highly anticipated clash at Anfield on Monday night.

Playmaker Mkhitaryan missed Armenia’s international World Cup qualifier against Romania at the request of manager Jose Mourinho as he regains his full fitness.

It is said the 27-year-old is struggling with a thigh injury, with his slow start to life in England continuing since his £26.3 million summer transfer from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.

Mkhitaryan has made only one start in his four appearances for the Old Trafford club this term, last appearing in his side’s 2-1 defeat against rivals Man City, when he was subbed at half-time.

Meanwhile, left-back Shaw is another doubt. He missed England’s World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia, as interim manager Gareth Southgate decided not to rush him back into action.

The England international has made five league appearances for Man United this term, following his season-ending injury last season.

Liverpool are currently fourth in the league table with 16 points after seven games, while United are three points behind in sixth.
