Watford are interested in signing Newcastle right-back Daryl Janmaat, according to a report.
The Mirror claims that the Premier League club are one of several interested in signing the Holland international.
The 26-year-old’s time at St James’ Park seems to be up after the Magpies confirmed the signing of full-back Jesus Gamez from Atletico Madrid on Friday and it is claimed that Janmaat will be allowed to leave the north east if Rafa Benitez is able to add more defensive signings.
The former Feyenoord player joined the Magpies from Feyenoord in a £5million deal in 2014 signing a six-year contract and the newly relegated side will be looking to recoup the fee they paid for him.
Janmaat broke two fingers punching a wall in anger after Newcastle suffered a 3-1 loss to Southampton in March and returned to the first-team when relegation was already sealed.
The Netherlands international made 32 appearances for Newcastle in their doomed Premier League campaign, but did bag two goals and four assists in those games.
The St James’ Park club are looking to overhaul their squad which suffered relegation to the Championship, as they attempt to bounce back to the top flight at the first time.
The Magpies managed to keep hold of former Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez and have already brought in five players this summer, which include Isaac Hayden, Dwight Gayle and Matt Ritchie all joining from Premier League sides.
In other Newcastle news, the Magpies French winger Florian Thauvin is set to rejoin Marseille on a season-long loan.
