Southampton are closing in on a sensational move for Bayern Munich midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to a report.

The Mirror claim that the youngster has become frustrated with a lack of football at Bayern and is now set for a £12million move to St Mary’s.

The player’s agent Soren Lerby has told a Danish newspaper outlet that his player will make a switch to England from Germany.

“Yes, I can confirm that Pierre will switch to Southampton,” the Lerby told Ekstra Bladet.

The Danish midfielder was given his debut as a 17-year-old by Pep Guardiola, making his third senior appearance in the 2013 German Cup final.

But the last 18 months has seen the 20-year-old out on loan at Augsburg and most recently Schalke where he is now trying to find a permanent deal away from the Allianz arena.

After over 50 appearances in Germany for three different clubs it seems if a deal can be agreed the versatile midfielder will make the switch from Germany to England.

The youngster will become the Saints second signing of the summer after Nathan Redmond’s £11 million switch from relegated side Norwich, but the Dane will become recently appointed manager Claude Puel’s first capture.

In the latest Southampton news, the club have used money from Sadio Mane deal to make a stunning bid for a Liverpool and Tottenham target.
