Uruguayan prospect Agustin Davila has flown in to Liverpool to start a two-week trial with the club, according to a report.

The Mail have claimed that the 17-year-old forward ace flew to Merseyside on Saturday and has joined up with the Reds squad, where he will be assessed by academy director Alex Inglethorpe and the club’s coaching staff.

The youngster is currently contracted to Atletico Penarol where he has established a reputation as a promising and prolific striker with their youth side Juveniles Penarol.

He has represented his country at Under-15 and 17’s level and has scored over 100 goals at youth level for club and country.

If he does earn a contract with the Reds following his trial, he will be expected to join the side’s Under-23’s.

The Liverpool first team have not struggled in front of goal in the new campaign, despite their 0-0 draw with fierce rivals Manchester United on Monday.

They have scored 18 goals in their first eight fixtures, which ranks their attack as third best in the league table, behind Manchester City and Arsenal.

They will face West Brom at Anfield on Saturday and they will be keen to keep their impressive start to the season going.
