Steven Gerrard could be reunited with Brendan Rodgers if he joins Celtic and the bookies have named the Scottish club as one of the favourites to land the midfielder, according to reports.
The Daily Record claim Celtic were tipped as favourites to sign the Liverpool legend in May and are currently 4/1 with Paddy Power to bring the midfielder to Scotland.
The 36 year-old Premier League great played his final match for LA Galaxy in a play-off semi-final defeat against Colorado Rapids on Sunday evening but reports claim Gerrard is not yet ready to hang up his boots.
ESPN claim sources close to the player have said he is not ready to finish playing yet and while Liverpool is an obvious destination for the midfielder, Celtic could also be in the running.
Gerrard made 712 appearances at Liverpool and enjoyed one of his best seasons under Celtic boss Rodgers during the 2013-14 season as the Reds mounted a Premier League title challenge.
Liverpool’s former skipper won the Champions League in 2005 but was unable to lift the English title and the prospect of claiming silverware with Rodgers at Celtic could be enticing.
Celtic currently lead the Scottish Premiership by 10 points after victory against Inverness this Saturday gave them a commanding lead over second place, Aberdeen.
