Tottenham are targeting £30million-rated Serie A winger Domenico Berardi, Football Insider sources understand.

Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign another attacker to take some of the burden off main man Harry Kane.

Versatile Berardi is in the sights of the Spurs recruitment team after impressing for Sassulo since his £7million summer move from Juventus.

The Italy Under-21 international can play in any of the three positions behind the centre-forward, although he is perdominantly used on the right flank by his club.

Spurs are in the market for attacking players in the January transfer window as they step up plans to strengthen Pochettino’s squad in the second half of the season.

The manager would like a centre-forward to back up Kane, but is also open to the option of a pacy, creative force out wide.

Kane has played the majority of Spurs’ matches this season and has scored 10 goals in his last 10 matches.

Spurs want a proven performer who can slot straight into their team if required. Belgium international Michy Batshuayi is also in their sights after scoring 14 goals in all competitions for Marseille this season.

Pochettino remains an admirer of Saido Berahino but the north Londoners face an uphill battle to convince West Brom to sell their prize asset after having four bids rejected by the Midlands club in the summer.

Berahino threatened to go on strike in a furious Twitter post aimed at chairman Jeremy Peace after his move collapsed and Tottenham are thought to be reluctant to spark another tug of war.
