Robbie Savage has revealed that he has been impressed by Leeds boss Garry Monk during his short managerial career.

The former Swansea boss guided Leeds to a fifth win in six league and cup encounters on Saturday, seeing off Yorkshire rivals Barnsley with a 2-1 win.

Former Birmingham and Leicester star Savage, who is now a pundit with BT Sport, claimed on his personal Twitter account that Monk was “doing okay” as Leeds boss.

Monk made his name at Swansea, taking over as boss in 2014 before saving the Swans from relegation from the Premier League with one match to spare.

The 37-year-old former defender then orchestrated Swansea’s best ever finish in the Premier League in 2014/2015, as they finished in eighth place with the likes of Wilfried Bony and Gylfi Sigurdsson starring in Monk’s side.

Now, Monk has endured a difficult to start to life at Elland Road after taking over in the summer.

But a recent return to form has disbanded rumours that had suggested controversial owner Massimo Cellino was ready to wield his managerial axe for the seventh time in three years.

Leeds sit in the top half of the Championship table, with just four points separating the Yorkshire giants between themselves and a play-off position.
