Robbie Savage has claimed Tottenham failed to make a marquee signing this summer.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino spent £67million on incoming players in the recent window, most notably the £30million signing of midfielder Moussa Sissoko on deadline day.

However, former footballer turned pundi, Savage  hasn’t been impressed with the north London club’s transfer business.

“Where is that marquee signing?” wrote Savage for the Mirror “I’d be disappointed. If you finish third, looking a bit jaded, I’d have expected a huge signing to go into that side to improve it.

“Sissoko isn’t that player, is he?”

Spurs added Victor Wanyama, Vincent Janssen, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Pau Lopez alongside Sissoko  to their squad this summer.

Tottenham have started their new campaign unbeaten in their opening three matches with two draws against Liverpool and Everton, while they picked up a victory against London rivals Crystal Palace.

Pochettino is looking to improve on the side’s third place finish from last season and he will be hoping that the last-minute signing of Sissoko will help push the club on for a title challenge.

The France international was involved in a deadline-day tug-of-war, but Spurs eventually secured their big-money target ahead of Everton as the club prepares for a battle in the Champions League in the new campaign.
