Robert Lewandowski believes that Liverpool can win the Premier League this season.

The Bayern Munich striker feels that the Reds will be challenging for the title and will benefit from their manager Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool have made a strong start to the new campaign and are currently fourth in the table, with 16 points from their opening seven games.

Lewandowski worked under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund and has praised the influence of his former manager.

“Under Klopp I think they (Liverpool) will be fighting for the title this season,” said Lewandowski, as quoted by the Echo. “Pep and Manchester City will not make it easy for anybody to win the title, but Liverpool have a real chance.

“Without European football it can really help them with being fresh for games and with injuries and, even though Klopp is always smiling, he is ruthless enough to take advantage of that.”

Klopp, 49, helped Dortmund win two Bundesliga titles during his stay and defeat German giants Bayern Munich to the domestic crown.

He is now focused on helping Liverpool lift their first ever Premier League title and they are regarded as one of the main challengers for the title.

Klopp became manager at Anfield last October and his side have now begun to match his attacking philosophy.

The Reds have scored 18 league goals already this campaign, with forwards Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho all in impressive form.

Manchester City are still perceived as the team to beat this season and the league’s only unbeaten side Tottenham will prove a serious threat.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are considered Liverpool’s other title rivals in what is set to be an intriguing season.

In other Liverpool team news, the club’s first-team regular has delivered a criticism of Klopp.
