Robert Pires has claimed that Mesut Ozil holds the key to Arsenal’s success this season.
The 28-year-old is expected to feature for the Gunners as he looks to continue his excellent form this season against bitter rivals Manchester United on Saturday.
Speaking to Sky Sports‘ reporter Geoff Shreeves, former Invincibles star Pires revealed that Ozil is the man that could be the difference as Arsenal search for a fourth Premier League title.
“I always believe in Arsenal and the squad,” Pires declared. “At this point, Mesut Ozil can make the difference and I hope he can make Arsenal win the title this season because he has very good quality. Now he needs to put in his head that he can score.
“Normally he wants to pass or assist, which is very good and I love it when you have a player like him on the pitch.”
The Germany international comes into the game off the back of a terrific run of form that has seen him score seven goals in 14 league and cup appearances, including a hat-trick in the Champions League against Ludogorets.
In those 14 games, Arsenal have not lost when Ozil is on the pitch as the former Real Madrid star has helped Arsene Wenger’s side win 10 games this term.
A win for the Gunners in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off could see them sit on top of the Premier League table for a few hours at least, before league leaders Liverpool play against Southampton at 3pm.
In other Arsenal news, Mauricio Pochettino has had this to say about the Gunners.
