Ronald Koeman has refused to comment directly about Morgan Schneiderlin after Everton have been heavily linked with the Manchester United midfielder, but he did admit he’d seen the news linking the player to West Brom.

The Sun previously claimed that Koeman is “desperate” to bring the 27-year-old to Goodison Park and that Man United have stuck a £25million price tag on him.

Now, Bleacher Report correspondent Dean Jones revealed on his personal Twitter account that both Watford and West Brom are also keen on Schneiderlin.

France international Schneiderlin worked under Dutchman Koeman during his time at Southampton, before the defensive-minded player made a big-money move to United in the summer of 2015.

Ahead of Everton’s trip to Premier League champions Leicester on Boxing Day, Koeman had this to say about Schneiderlin.

“I don’t speak about players. I saw the (WBA) stories,” said Koeman in his Thursday press conference, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo. “I speak to Steve Walsh and the board about what we need to do in January, you will see what happens. Of course I know Morgan, we worked one season together then he went to Man United.”

Schneiderlin has played just eight Premier League, Europa League, EFL Cup and Community Shield games for Jose Mourinho’s side this season.

He has started three of those encounters, but Mourinho has utilised the player for just 11 minutes in the Premier League.

The former Chelsea boss has instead used the likes of Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick in the middle of the park.

During his time at the Saints, Schneiderlin played 257 games for the south coast club.

Koeman currently has the likes of Idrissa Gana, Gareth Barry and James McCarthy as defensive-minded midfielders.

In other Everton transfer news, odds have been slashed for the Toffees to sign this £20million-rated defender in January.
