Ronald Koeman has stated on Twitter that Everton were “outclassed in every department” after they were thrashed 5-0 by Chelsea on Saturday evening.
The Toffees were torn apart at Stamford Bridge as goals from Marcus Alonso, Diego Costa and Pedro added to Eden Hazard’s brace.
Prior to the game Koeman’s side had only conceded eight goals in ten matches, but Everton struggled with key defensive midfielder Idrissa Gueye missing for the away trip.
Koeman was forced to change tactics inside the first 36 minutes with the score at 2-0, but the change did not work as his side were humiliated.
After the game the former centre-back provided a straight forward answer as to why the Merseyside club struggled to cope with their opponents.
“Outclassed in every aspect of football today,” Koeman wrote on his personal Twitter account. “Feeling sorry for the fans. Focus on the next game now.”

Everton remain in the top six with 18 points from 11 games, but they could be overtaken by Watford if they are able to pick up three points at Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Since their 2-0 defeat to Championship outfit Norwich in September, Koeman’s side have only recorded one victory in six games.
After the international break they will welcome Swansea to Goodison Park.
In other Everton team news, supporters on Twitter were left disappointed at Romelu Lukaku’s performance against Chelsea.
