Ross Barkley left an understated message on Instagram after he produced a goal and man-of-the-match performance as Everton beat West Ham convincingly on Sunday afternoon.

Barkley, 22, has come under criticism this season and was dropped by club and country as he struggled to find consistent form at Goodison Park.

However, the midfielder was back on it against West Ham and capped off a superb performance with a goal in the 76th minute that secured the three points for his team.

Barkley took to his personal Instagram account after the match and left a simple message for fans and critics alike, saying “good day at the office”.

Barkley will be pleased on a personal level but the three points are invaluable to his team who had hit a speed bump after a good start to the season.

Koeman’s men were winless in five matches before hosting a lacklustre Hammers and the win solidifies their position in the Premier League table.

The Merseyside team is sixth with 18 points, five points behind the league leaders and three points ahead of Watford in seventh.

They play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next Saturday and could move to within one point of the fourth-placed team with a win.
