Paul Scholes has delivered a scathing assessment of Arsenal’s title chances ahead of their showdown at Tottenham on Saturday.
The Gunners have lost two Premier League games in a row after they followed up defeat at Manchester United on Sunday with a 2-1 home loss against Swansea on Wednesday.
Joel Campbell had given Arsene Wenger’s side the lead, but goals from Wayne Routledge and Ashley Williams means Arsenal are now six points behind leaders Leicester going into the weekend.
Tottenham can go top with victory in the early kick-off at White Hart Lane at the weekend, as they are three points off the pace despite losing 1-0 at West Ham.
Scholes was speaking on BT Sport on Wednesday night and said he doubted whether the Gunners were capable of going to their most fierce rivals and emerging triumphant.
“They [Spurs] can virtually put Arsenal away with a win,” Scholes said. “The question about Arsenal is – have Arsenal got the bottle to go there and win a game after the two results they’ve just had?
“I doubt whether they’ve got the bottle or the balls to go on and do it.”
In other Arsenal news, Wenger has revealed that the team will be without key pair Petr Cech and Laurent Koscielny for the trip to White Hart Lane.
