Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of defender Elliot Percival from Leicester, it was announced on Monday.

The Championship club announced on their official website that the 18-year-old will link up with their development squad as he drops down a division.

Percival has brought an end to his decade-long association with Premier League champions Leicester to sign a one-year contract with Wednesday.

The right-back explained why he has decided to leave the Premier League champions.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge of playing for Sheffield Wednesday,” Percivakl told the Wednesday website. “This is exactly the kind of club I want to develop my career.

“I saw the kind of support the club gets at Wembley and that really is the 12th man.”

The Yorkshire club narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League, when they were defeated by Hull in the Championship play-off finals last season. But, Percival hopes the move to Yorkshire can provide new opportunities.

“Everyone has been really friendly and I have been told the pathway opportunities are very good.” said the 18-year-old.

Percival spent close to a decade with the recently crowned Premier League champions, but now looks to make his mark on Carlos Carvahal’s side.
