Simon Mignolet has urged Liverpool to “stay cool” as they take on their Merseyside rivals Everton on Monday night at Goodison Park.

Goalkeeper Mignolet will be looking to take his place between the sticks for the second game running after manager Jurgen Klopp dropped German Loris Karius in midweek.

Belgian Mignolet kept a clean sheet on Wednesday night as his side ran out 3-0 winners against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Additionally, Klopp’s men will be looking for back-to-back victories as they aim to close the nine point gap on leaders Chelsea in the Premier League table.

Prior to the game Mignolet posted this message to supporters on his personal Twitter account.

Mignolet has made nine Premier League and EFL Cup appearances this season, keeping three clean sheets.

By contrast his Karius has made 11 Premier League and EFL Cup appearances, keeping four clean sheets.

Klopp will be hoping his side can continue their good record against their neighbours with the Toffees last beating Liverpool in 2010.

Since then the Goodison Park club have lost nine and drawn the same amount of fixtures as they will be looking to end the baron run against their rivals.

The away side also possess the best attacking threat in the league, having scored 40 goals in 16 games, 19 more than Ronald Koeman’s side.

A win for the home side could see them move into the top six, while their opponents would leapfrog Manchester City in second.
