Simon Mignolet has stated on his Twitter account that he is ready for Liverpool’s clash against rivals Manchester United on Monday night.
The north-west rivals will meet in an eagerly awaited Premier League clash at Anfield, with the visitors set to experience a highly charged Merseyside crowd.
Belgian goalkeeper Mignolet has started five league matches for Jurgen Klopp’s side this term, but has missed the last two fixtures in the competition, as the manager has opted to select Loris Karius in goal.
The club’s summer signing from Mainz has conceded two goals in his last two games, but did keep a clean sheet in the EFL Cup victory at Derby following his return from a hand injury.
Now his goalkeeping counterpart Mignolet has taken to his personal Twitter account prior to the United game to deliver this message.
“Massive fixture tonight,” Mignolet wrote on his personal Twitter account. “Bring it on.”
United have had the better of the previous meeting between the two sides, winning the last four league outings, most recently a 1-0 win at Anfield in January.
But that was under the guidance of former manager Louis Van Gaal, who has since been replaced by the unpopular Anfield figure Jose Mourinho because of his rivalry with the club following his Chelsea days.
Nonetheless, going into the fixture, the Reds are the in-form side, with Klopp’s men searching for their seventh win in their last eight fixtures in all competitions.
By contrast, their Manchester opponents have lost two of their last five league games, as they sit sixth with 13 points, while Klopp’s side are fourth with 16.
In other Liverpool team news, former Everton midfielder Leon Osman has urged Jose Mourinho to drop his friend Wayne Rooney.
