Tottenham are favourites to sign Everton ace Ross Barkley in January, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Leading betting company Sky Bet have placed odds of 8/1 on playmaker Barkley joining Mauricio Pochettino’s side before February 3.
The Telegraph previously claimed that Spurs are “keeping tabs” on the England international ahead of a possible “summer move” to White Hart Lane.
It was also reported that the north London club would have to pay the Merseyside outfit at least £25million for their player, despite “the fact he will only have 12 months remaining on his current contract in the summer”.
Other clubs who are in the running to sign the boyhood Toffees fan are Manchester United at 12/1, City at 2o/1, while current league leaders Chelsea are 33/1 to purchase the attacker.
Attacking midfielder Barkley has produced inconsistent form this season, which has led to his club manager Ronald Koeman dropping him on a number of occasions from the starting XI.
The 23-year-old has scored two goals in 15 Premier League games, but he has started the previous two games for the Dutchman.
Barkley was substituted at half-time against Sunderland earlier on in the campaign and was also on the bench for games against Pep Guardiola’s City and Jose Mourinho’s United.
Additionally, his performances this term have also seen him being dropped from the England squad, despite the fact that he was part of the team that competed at Euro 2016.
Following his breakthrough as a teenager, Barkley has played 157 games for the Toffees, scoring 24 goals and supplying 21 assists.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the mother of a senior Spurs player has stated that her son will return home soon.
