An unnamed club have hijacked Ryan Mason’s move to Hull after a deal was agreed and terms were offered to the player, according to a Sky journalist.

It was claimed on Friday afternoon by Sky Sports that the north London club were ready to let the 25-year-old central midfielder move north to Yorkshire after agreeing on a deal.

However, Sky Sports’ north of England reporter Tim Thornton has now claimed on his personal Twitter account that the 25-year-old is speaking to another club.

Mason still has four years left on his current contract, but is deemed surplus to requirements after being unused from the bench in the club’s opening two matches.

The Spurs youth graduate has fallen behind Eric Dier, Moussa Dembele and new signing Victor Wanyama in the club’s pecking order.

The midfielder has had loan spells at five different clubs during his career, including a stint in France with Lorient.

He made his Tottenham debut against Dutch side NEC Breda in the UEFA Cup group stages in 2008, and has one England cap after he came on as a substitute against Italy in 2015.

In other Tottenham transfer news, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou is training with the Spurs squad.
