Phil Thompson has named four Manchester United players in a combined Liverpool XI, ahead of their clash at Anfield on Monday night.
Sky Sports pundit Thompson has picked goalkeeper David De Gea, centre-back Chris Smalling, midfielder Paul Pogba and striker Zlatan Ibrahimović from the Manchester squad.
Additionally, he has gone for the Liverpool attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Phillippe Coutinho to play alongside Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, James Milner and Jordan Henderson.
The Reds have been in devastating form this season, scoring a joint league high of 18 goals, with the attacking three of Mane, Firmino and Coutinho playing a pivotal part in that hot run of form.
Between them the trio have notched up half of the Merseyside club’s goal this term, as their high intensity pressing has caused havoc on opposition defences.
For United, summer signing Ibrahimović has been in sparkling form scoring four goals in seven league appearances following his free transfer in July.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are fourth in the league table with 16 points, while Jose Mourinho’s United are sixth with 13 points to their name.
In other Liverpool team news, BBC Sports pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted an easy win in Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United.
