Ian Holloway has backed Norwich to beat Leeds on Saturday afternoon at Carrow Road despite the Canaries losing their last league fixture 5-0.

Sky Sports pundit Holloway predicts the recently-relegated Championship outfit to win 1-0 on home soil, despite Garry Monk’s side being in good form.

Alex Neil’s team were humiliated by their fellow promotion chasers Brighton last weekend as the Seagulls scored four second-half goals.

But Leeds did knockout their Championship rivals on penalties in their recently contested EFL Cup fixture.

Former Premier League manager Holloway has explained why the Yorkshire club will be on the losing side at the weekend.

“But even though Garry Monk has got Leeds playing well, I am actually backing Norwich, who I do not think will give much away and will win by one goal,” Holloway wrote in his Sky Sports column. “This is a test for Leeds, though, who I have said quite categorically are going to have a good season, as long as the owner trusts Garry with it.

“A few weeks ago, they were losing a few games and there was speculation. And Massimo Cellino needs to trust him, as the longer Garry Monk stays there, the better Leeds are going to be.”

The Whites have won their last two league fixtures and have kept consecutive clean sheets in the process.

As a result they are ninth in the table with 23 points from 15 games, only one point off the final play-off spot.

By contrast Norwich are in a play-off position with 27 points and eight wins to their name this season.
