Sky Sports pundit Phil Thompson has listed five reasons why Liverpool could clinch their first Premier League title this season.
Former Reds defender Thomson stated that injuries, home form, winning games they should win, defending set plays and manager Jurgen Klopp are pivotal to them winning the league.
The Merseyside club are currently third in the league table with 23 points from ten games, level with Manchester City and Arsenal, as only goal difference separates the top three.
The five-time European champions have not lifted the top prize since the 1989/90 season, when Anfield legend Kenny Dalglish guided them to glory.
But in his Sky Sports column Thompson believes Klopp has now changed the mindset of everyone associated with the club, with the manager his number one reason.
“He’s dynamic, charismatic, he has everybody believing, the fans, the players, he seems to work so well with them,” said Thompson.
“They are able to prepare for games, they have great recovery time, and you can feel it here for Anfield at home games. He is probably the most important thing.
“He has to be the number one reason.”
Liverpool, who have no European football this season, host in-from Watford at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Klopp’s side will be looking to continue their winning run, which has seen them pick up eight victories in their last nine games.
In other Liverpool team news, club legend Steve Nicol has claimed manager Jurgen Klopp will not be worried about the unavailability of this player.
