Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will not win the golden boot again next season, according to five Sky Sports pundits.

Phil Thompson, Charlie Nicholas, Matt Le Tissier, Paul Merson and Jamie Redknapp all agree that Tottenham’s prolific forward will miss out on the coveted award in his next domestic campaign.

Sky’s football experts all claim on the broadcaster’s website that Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero will bag the award ahead of Kane next season.

“If Aguero stays fit then it’s tough to see anyone beating him,” Le Tissier told Sky Sports. “However, looking at the odds I’d probably have an each-way bet on Romelu Lukaku at 12/1, especially if he goes to Chelsea.”

Redknapp agreed: “I backed Aguero last season and the only reason he wasn’t top scorer up was down to injuries. His goals per game ratio is simply outstanding and if he stays fit he surely must be top scorer.”

Thompson did consider Kane’s chances but backed the City man to win. He said: “Kane is once again his main competition but I think this will be Aguero’s year to top the charts and I wouldn’t be surprised if he hits the 30-goal mark.”

England’s senior forward went to the Euros on the back end of a fine season at White Hart Lane, where he topped the Premier League scoring charts with 25 goals.

However the Spurs man endured a dreadful tournament as he failed to find the back of the net with ten shots , with four on target and six off target.

He epitomised England’s meltdown against Iceland with a wretched display full of awkward touches, mislaid passes and a complete absence of cutting edge.

Kane has starred for England in 16 encounters though, scoring five goals and the 22-year-old will now be keen to put the Championships behind him and focus on the Russia 2018 World Cup qualification campaign where England will kick off against Slovakia on 4 September.

Conversely, the forwards general goal-scoring record with his club is very impressive, he has scored 91 goals and provided 26 assists in 206 matches for his side – making a significant contribution in more than every other game for his side.

In other Tottenham team news, Manchester United may have completed a world-record signing for Paul Pogba but Tottenham have their own midfield star in Eric Dier who can spearhead them to an against-the-odds title win.
