Former Arsenal star Sol Campbell has revealed the five players he thinks should be at the top of Arsene Wenger’s shopping list.

The 42-year-old played for the Gunners between 2001 and 2006 and made more than 200 league and cup appearances.

The five players he believes Arsenal should sign are Antoine Griezman, Kylian Mbappe, Karim Benzema, Virgil van Dijk and Harry Maguire.

Speaking on Betstars, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, Campbell said of Griezman: “Up front, Griezmann is definitely someone who could make a huge difference with his scoring prowess and his movement.

“I think the big price tag might be a big hurdle, but if he can sell a couple of players and push the boat out for the big £85million price tag, he will definitely make a huge difference.”

The Atletico Madrid forward has become one of Europe’s top strikers in the last few years, having reached the European Championships final with France, and the Champions League final with his club.

This season he has bagged 26 goals in 52 league and cup appearances, as well as providing 11 assists.

Meanwhile the former Arsenal defender gave his assessment on Monaco striker Mbappe.

He said: “Bags of confidence, he reminds me… he could even be the next Henry, okay he has got a long way to go for that but he’s showing potential that maybe if you wait two, three years he might cost just a bit too much as time goes on.”

Mbappe has burst onto the scene this season, leading his club to the Ligue 1 title, and scoring 15 goals in 28 games along the way.

The 18-year-old has also impressed in the Champions League as his side reached the semi-finals, scoring six goals in nine appearances.

Arsenal have long been linked with Benzema, so Campbell’s suggestion does not come as a surprise.

Spanish news outlet Merca Futbol claimed Wenger was making a move for the striker last September.
