Real Madrid will return for David de Gea in the summer in a second concerted attempt to prise the goakeeper from Old Trafford, Football Insider sources understand.

The Spanish giants failed to sign the Manchester United No1 last August when a paperwork delay meant the deal collapsed in the final minutes of the transfer window.

But a release clause of around £30million was inserted in the contract De Gea signed in September.

Spanish source have told Football Insider that Real will make another push for the 25-year-old at the end of this season and are confident of getting their man.

Keylor Navas has had a fine season in goal for Zinedine Zidane’s team but De Gea is rated so highly by the Spanish giants that they are confident he can be their goalkeeper for the next decade.

The United No1 began the season on the sidelines at Old Trafford but, following the collapse of the Real deal, he was immediately re-integrated into the squad, signed a new contract until 2019 and has had another outstanding season.

De Gea has made 35 appearances and once again been United’s best player in what has been another underwhelming campaign for the Premier League big-hitters.

In other Manchester United transfer news, the club have announced the signing of teenage defender Matthew Olosunde.
