La Liga side Atletico Madrid are eyeing a swoop for Liverpool forward Divock Origi, according to a report.

Sport news site Bleacher Report claim that the country giants are becoming frustrated in their chase for Chelsea striker Diego Costa and Origi’s name is on a list of back-up targets.

The 21-year-old striker joined the Merseyside club in the summer of 2014 from Lille in a £10million move after impressive performances for Belgium at the World Cup in Brazil.

Following a season back on loan at Ligue 1 side, Origi joined Liverpool permanently last summer and made an impressive impact, particularly under new manager Jurgen Klopp.

The youngster, who still has three-years on his contract, scored 10 goals in 33 appearances and was preferred to more senior strikers Daniel Sturridge and Christian Benteke for some of Liverpool’s key matches, including their Europa League quarter-final double-header against Borussia Dortmund.

The 22-time capped Belgium international featured at Euro 2016, but he was limited to just two substitute appearances during the tournament as his country made the quarter-finals.

In other Liverpool transfer news, Inter Milan stars Gary Medel and Marcelo Brozovic could become the two newest members of Jurgen Klopp’s side.
