Stan Collymore believes that Sadio Mane is going to be crucial for Liverpool this season.

Mane, 24, has made a huge impact following his £34million move from Southampton this summer scoring two goals in his first four appearances for the club.

The winger bagged his second goal in the most recent 4-1 victory over Premier League champions Leicester.

Writing in his column for betting firm Boyle Sports, Collymore has said that Mane is a key part of the Reds set-up, hailing the attacker’s “outrageous pace” and highlighting his danger on the counter-attack in away fixtures.

“Mane though is going to be crucial for the Reds this season,” wrote Collymore. “A match winner, outrageous pace and is a very useful counter attacking weapon on away days, so a great result but I’m not getting carried away just yet.

“I wonder if Leicester invested enough in freshening up the back four. Nothing wrong with any of them but whereas the front line has seen some exciting new additions, I wonder whether a huge money spinning statement signing at the back would have had Wes and Co. thinking, ‘we can’t rest on our laurels’.”

The pacy attacker spent two years at Southampton before his move to Anfield.

He was tormenting defences on the south coast, which brought Jurgen Klopp’s attention to him scoring 25 goals in 75 encounters in all competitions.

The attacker has been deployed on the right hand side of a three-man attack by Klopp and he has already forged a great partnership within the Liverpool team.

The Reds face Chelsea on Friday and Mane will be expected to lineup in Liverpool’s attack once again.
