Stan Collymore has revealed on his personal Twitter account that Steve Bruce will be unveiled as the new Aston Villa manager.
This follows club owner Tony Xia who informed supporters on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday evening that a new manager will be announced on Wednesday.
Free-agent Bruce has been the frontrunner to take the Villa Park post, since the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo on October 3.
The former Birmingham City boss confirmed on Sunday that he has held talks, with Villa’s chiefs, as Collymore now suggests that the former centre-back is the club’s new manager.
“In other news, Aston Villa will unveil the new, svelte Steve Bruce as our 1000th manager. Up the Villa!” Collymore wrote on his personal Twitter account.
Bruce left Premier League outfit Hull in the summer, after guiding them to promotion via the play-offs last season.
If he is given the reigns at Villa Park, then he will be tasked to turnaround a side that is sitting in 19th place, with ten points from 11 games and one win all season.
Villa face Midlands rivals Wolves on Saturday, as they search for their second win of the campaign, having drawn seven out of 11 league fixtures this term.
