Arsenal booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League as they fought their way back from two goals down to beat Ludogorets last night, and stats show they’ve got one man to thank.
Squawka released a tweet that showed the invaluable contribution made by Germany international Mesut Ozil, who scored a cracking winner in the 87th minute.
Ozil is in fine goal-scoring form at the moment after netting his career first hat-trick against Ludogorets in the reverse fixture at the Emirates.
Now he’s taken his team into the knockout stage of the competition thanks to his contribution on Tuesday night, with a 90% pass accuracy, assist and winning goal.
Arsenal still have work to do if they want to win the group, which could mean they avoid teams of the calibre of Barcelona in the next round.
Paris Saint-Germain also won last night, with a 2-1 victory away at Basel leaving them on the same points as the Gunners.
Arsenal top the group on goal difference but could stamp their authority on the top spot by beating Monaco in their next Champions League match at the Emirates on November 23.
Before then they have the north London derby to worry about as they host rivals Tottenham at the Emirates on Sunday.
In other Arsenal news, this TV pundit has compared Ozil’s goal to those scored by other Arsenal greats.
