Liverpool have been in great form at the start of the season and stats show they have even bettered Manchester City at passing.

The Reds are currently fourth in the league table and have made a positive start to the campaign, scoring 24 goals in just eight games across all competitions.

Liverpool have managed to match the attacking philosophy of Jurgen Klopp and have been a real threat in front of goal.

Pep Guardiola’s City have begun the season with a 100 per cent record and have won all six of their Premier League games so far.

Football website Squawka revealed stats which show Liverpool have completed the most successful passes this season in the league with 2,989.

Their rivals City are second on the list with 2,908 but the stats come as a surprise with Guardiola famously known for his passing style.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has been hugely successful across Europe with his distinct style and is taking on the challenge of transforming City.

Klopp has opted to field a midfield three of Georginio Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana this season and they have been crucial to Liverpool’s success.

The trio have been in remarkable form and allowed attackers Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane the freedom to go forward.

Liverpool are now regarded as one of the main challengers for the league title and will hope to continue their impressive start to the season.

In other Liverpool team news, the club’s supporters have reacted on Twitter to a performance from their youngster for the Under-23s.
