Steven Gerrard hailed Liverpool’s performance against Chelsea, as he congratulated Jordan Henderson and Dejan Lovren for their goals for the Reds on Friday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were 2-1 winners at Stamford Bridge as a wonder strike from Henderson helped the Merseyside club to all three points.

Anfield legend Gerrard took to his personal Instagram account after the game to praise his former side on their positive start to the season.

“Well done boys and Congratulations on the goals, Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson,” the LA Galaxy midfielder wrote on Instagram.

Lovren had put Liverpool ahead early on in the first-half, before captain Henderson unleashed a sensational, Gerrard-esque shot from 25 yards to put the visitors 2-0 up before half-time.

Striker Diego Costa did pull one back for the hosts in the second-half, but the Merseyside club deservedly took all three points to lift them into the top four.

The win takes the Reds to ten points after five games, two points off leaders Manchester City, with the rest of the Premier League set to play their fixtures this weekend.
