Kelechi Nwakali could be sent on loan by Arsenal just weeks after joining the club, according to a report.

Website African Football claim the Nigeria Under-20 skipper is a target for clubs in Turkey and Norway in the final week of the summer window.

It is said that he is not in the first-team plans of Arsene Wenger and is set to go out on loan in order to gain first-team experience.

The midfielder revealed on his personal Twitter account that he had signed for the Gunners earlier this month after turning 18 in June.

The deal for Nwakali to join from the Diamond Football Academy had been held up by red tape after initially being agreed in principle in March.

The Nigeria Under-20 captain became Arsenal’s fourth new signing of the window following the £34million capture Granit Xhaka, and cheaper deals for youthful pair Rob Holding and Takuma Asano.

Gunners fans have since been frustrated by a lack of transfer movement this summer, and the failure to sign a striker has led to Alexis Sanchez leading the line in the opening matches.

Arsenal were a number of leading European clubs who scouted Nwakali in last year’s Fifa Under-17 World Cup in Chile, along with Man City and Bayern Munich.

Nwakali helped Nigeria win the tournament in 2015 and was named as the player of the tournament after his promising displays.

The attacking midfielder is competing with senior players such as Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Sanchez, Jack Wilshire, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey for a starting spot and the club believe he is better off earning first-team football elsewhere.
