Everton have opened talks with Porto winger Yacine Brahimi in a bid to steal a march on Arsenal, according to a report.
Sky Sports claim that negotiations between the Merseysiders and the Portugese club are progressing very well as Ronald Koeman looks to sign another attacking player.
But it is said that convincing the player to make the move to Goodison Park is proving more problematic because his preference is a move to one of England’s Champions League clubs.
The Mirror reported on Sunday that Arsenal were weighing up a move for £40million rated Brahimi, who was left out of Porto’s midweek Champions League qualifying game against Roma last week.
The 26-year-old joined Porto from Granada in 2014 and has caught the eye of Europe’s biggest clubs with his displays on the left wing.
He has registered 20 goals and 22 assists in 86 appearances for the Portuguese giants and has seven international goals in 28 appearances for Algeria after playing for France’s youth teams during the early stages of his career.
Everton are looking to further add to their squad in the final days of the summer window after signing Maarten Stekelenburg, Idrissa Gueye, Ashley Williams and Yannick Bolasie.
