Tim Sherwood has stated that he believes Moussa Sissoko’s best position is in the centre, where he can be a big help to Harry Kane.

The France international moved to White Hart Lane in a £30million deal on deadline day of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old started on the right side of Spurs’ attacking midfield three against Sunderland on Sunday, but Sherwood believes that his best position is in the number eight role.

“He can be a world beater on his day, we all saw that at the European Championships, he was fantastic,” said Sherwood speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on Monday, as quoted by the TalkSport website.

“I think his best position is at number eight, in the centre rather than out wide. He can be a massive help to Harry Kane in that position.

“I think Harry is very similar to Teddy Sheringham – they’re both players who need others around them to free them up a little bit.

“Harry gets that from Dele Alli. He occupies the centre-halves which allows Harry to pull away in that little bit of space and gets himself half a yard.

“I think Sissoko can do the same for him. He’s a good signing.”

Sissoko moved to north London from Newcastle following an impressive performance with France in the summer’s European Championships.

The attacking midfielder suffered relegation with the Magpies last campaign, but he clearly did enough to impress Mauricio Pochettino to spend big on him.

Tottenham beat Sunderland 1-0 at the weekend and they currently sit in third place with 11 points from their opening five games.

In other Tottenham team news, Gary Lineker claimed on Twitter that Tottenham extending midfielder Dele Alli’s contract at the club was “a brilliant signing.”
