Tony Xia has urged Aston Villa to “get started” following the appointment of Steve Bruce as manager on Wednesday evening.
The club announced on its official Twitter account that former Birmingham City boss Bruce has been installed as manager following the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo.
Club chief Xia axed the former Champions League winning manager after 124 days in charge and tasked former Hull boss Bruce with guiding the club to promotion.
After Bruce was announced as the club’s new manager, Chinese businessman Xia took to his personal Twitter account to deliver this message:
Former Manchester United centre-back Bruce left Hull during the summer after guiding them to promotion via the play-offs last season.
Bruce has won four promotions during his time as manager, including on two occasions with City rivals Birmingham.
He now takes charge of a Villa side that has won only one game all season, as they sit two points above the relegation zone in the Championship table.
Bruce’s first game in charge will be against Midlands rivals Wolves at Villa Park on Saturday evening in what is expected to be a mouth-watering contest.
In other Aston Villa team news, supporters on Twiiter backed the appointment of Steve Bruce as manager.
