Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has confirmed to supporters that the club are in the market for two new strikers and a creative midfielder.

As reported by Football Insider, Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo is on the look out for a new forward with Fulham’s Ross McCormack among those heavily linked with the club.

The Midlands outfit have already signed three new players this summer with Bournemouth defender Tommy Elphick moving for a fee of £3million and youngsters Aaron Tshibola and goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini joining for around £4million and £5million respectively.

Villa owner Xia posted an update about the club’s transfer plans on Chinese social media site Webo and revealed the deals are nearly done.

“Hopefully we will complete the strengthened spine in two weeks!” said Xia on Webo as cited by the Birmingham Mail. “Creative midfielder and powerful strikers with bullets loaded.”

The club only managed 27 goals last season as they were relegated into the second tier for the first time since 1987.

As reported by Football Insider, the club’s top scorer last season with seven goals, Jordan Ayew has hinted he wants a move away from Villa Park with Turkish side Fenerbahce showing interest.

In other Aston Villa news, a troubled star believes he can be the driving force behind the club’s push for promotion this season.
