Aston Villa youngster Andre Green is attracting Tottenham’s attention, according to a report.

The Mirror claim that Mauricio Pochettino is weighing up a bid for the young winger, who will celebrate his 18th birthday this week.

Green made the step up to the Villa first team last season with two substitute appearances in the Premier League.

The winger made his senior debut against Tottenham, as he came off the bench in the 2-0 defeat at Villa Park in March, where he caught the eye of the Argentine manager.

The youngster is believed to be in line for a breakthrough season in the Championship, after being involved in Villa’s pre-season friendlies and he played the final 30 minutes in the Midlands outfit’s victory over French club Nantes on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino has a reputation in football fir giving youngsters a chance at senior level after his time at Southampton and now Tottenham.

The north London side have also had great success plucking up young talent from the Football League and giving them a chance in England’s top-flight, including the likes of Gareth Bale, Kyle Walker and Dele Alli from Southampton, Sheffield United and MK Dons respectively.

However, Villa can point at current first-teamers Ciaran Clark, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Nathan Baker, Gary Gardner and Jack Grealish as players who gave graduated into the senior squad after coming through the club’s youth system.

In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs are set to listen to offers for seven members of the first-team squad this summer.
