Erik Lamela is set to be restored to the starting line-up for Tottenham’s clash against CSKA Moscow.

Spurs have been dealt a huge blow ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League tie as five senior players have all been ruled out through injury.

Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele, Danny Rose, Moussa Sissoko and Harry Kane have not travelled with the squad to Moscow.

Lamela is set to be handed the opportunity to start the match in place of Sissoko in the only change from the 2-1 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The Argentinian winger has been in impressive form this season, scoring two goals and supplying five assists in his eight appearances.

Spurs suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Monaco in their first European match this season and will be desperate to get their first points of the group against CSKA.

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to make just the one forced change to his side and will field his strongest available team.

Hugo Lloris is set to continue in goal, with regular defenders Kyle Walker, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Ben Davies retaining their places.

Davies has been used at left-back in the absence of Rose and is set to continue his stay in the side.

The loss of first-choice midfielders Dier and Dembele has seriously weakened Spurs’ options.

Pochettino elected to drop attack-minded players Eriksen and Alli into a midfield three for Middlesbrough, which looks the most likely option again.

Summer recruit Victor Wanyama will act as a defensive shield and allow Spurs’ more forward thinking players to get on the ball and influence the game.

Heung-Min Son is expected to continue on the left hand side of the club’s attack and he netted the two decisive goals in the 2-1 win against Middlesbrough in the Premier League.

He has now netted four goals in as many appearances this season and should cause a real threat to CSKA.

Dutch forward Vincent Janssen will continue to lead the attack in the absence of Kane and will be hoping to add to his tally of one goal for the club so far.

In other Tottenham team news, a rising star has been called into the squad for the clash against CSKA Moscow.
