Mauricio Pochettino revealed Toby Alderweireld’s injury “was no big issue” on Monday – and Tottenham fans took to Twitter to express their joy over the update.
The centre-back was stretchered off during Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with West Brom on Saturday after a collision with teammate Jan Vertonghen.
He is out of Spurs’ Champions League clash against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday, but Pochettino is not expecting a lengthy spell on the sidelines for the key defender.
This led fans to take to social media to celebrate the news as if it was a goal for their own team, with many hoping the injury to their star man wasn’t serious beforehand.

Alderweireld joined Tottenham from Atletcio Madrid in the summer of 2015 after a successful loan spell in the Premier League with Southampton.
He continued his form at White Hart Lane and has been a key part of a Spurs defence, which has conceded so few goals since he joined.
Tottenham fans will now be hoping for a speedy recovery with Bournemouth, Liverpool and Leicester coming up in the Premier League, with all three sides known to have quick forwards.
In the meantime the Guardian claim Eric Dier will drop back from his usual midfield anchorman role to partner Vertonghen in defence, which may also be a hint towards Kevin Wimmer’s future at the club.
