Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Japanese starlet Takuma Asano – and supporters of rival clubs including Tottenham have delighted in their rivals solving their glaring striker problem with an unknown player.

The Gunners confirmed on Sunday that they have signed forward Takuma Asano from Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

Sources have told Football Insider that Arsenal have paid a fee of around £4million for the 21-year-old.

Asano has four caps for his country, as well as one goal which came in Japan’s 7-2 win against Bulgaria.

The forward, who wore the number 10 shirt back in Japan, could immediately be loaned out in his first season at Emirates Stadium.

Many fans of the Gunners rival clubs have shown their joy with Arsenal signing another unknown youngster and continuing the philosophy that has not seen them win a league title for 12 years.

Here are a selection of the messages on Twitter:

Arsenal fans will be hoping that Arsene Wenger goes back into the market for a top class striker to compete with Olivier Giroud and doesn’t stop at the signing of Asano.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs will lodge a new bid for Vincent Janssen.
