Erik Lamela missed a penalty in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Manchester City on Saturday – and fans have questioned why he took the spot-kick on Twitter.
Spurs secured victory after an own goal from Aleksandar Kolarov and a crisp finish from Dele Alli.
During the second half Alli was bundled over in the box and referee Andre Mariner awarded the home side a penalty.
Claudio Bravo went the right way for the resulting Lamela spot kick and supporters were left asking why Son Heung-min did not take it.
Here is a collection of the messages on Twitter.
I'm sorry Son should have taken that penalty. #COYS

Was never confident with Lamela. Had to be Son… with the form he's in, he would've buried it, no worries #COYS

Son had remonstrated with Lamela moments before the penalty was taken as the pair disagreed over who should take the shot.
The north London outfit went second in the Premier League with the win and now sit just one point behind Manchester City.
Tottenham have now picked up 17 points from eight games this term and have found the form that made them serious title contenders last season.
Son was keen to take the penalty after bagging five goals in six games in the build-up to the fixture and was substituted in the 90th minute.
