Mauricio Pochettino made the huge call to axe Dele Alli against Crystal Palace – and Tottenham fans agreed with the decision.
The reigning PFA Young Player of the Year makes way for summer signing Vincent Jansen as Pochettino selects a two-pronged attack for the Premier League encounter at White Hart Lane.
Supporters felt that Alli’s performance against Everton last weekend, and a poor Euro 2016 resulted in him being dropped, but another fan asked why playmaker Christian Eriksen was not given the same treatment following his poor performance at Goodison.
Alli shone for the north London club last season, following his move from League One side MK Dons, as the 20-year-old helped his side into the Champions League.
But supporters were now hoping that this decision will show that no Tottenham player is safe from the axe and they have to continue to deliver.
Here is a selection of Tottenham supporters’ messages on Twitter.
Not surprised Alli's been dropped. Poor last week & needs a rest. #thfc

Not what I would have gone for but Alli had a poor Euros and poor last week so understandable. Glad Janssen gets a chance
