Tottenham fans were surprised on Twitter as their Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen failed to have an impact against Montenegro.
The former Ajax star played 90 minutes of his country’s 2018 World Cup qualifier, but failed to help his side beat the likes of Stefan Jovetic and Stefan Savic as Montenegro won 1-0.
Denmark’s loss leaves them four points adrift of the top of Group E, as Montenegro and Poland steal a march on their opponents to seal their place at Russia’s 2018 World Cup.
Eriksen played for 90 minutes alongside Premier League stars Kasper Schmeichel, Viktor Fishcer and Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg but was uninspiring in the defeat and only began to have an impact towards the end of the match.
Spurs fans were concerned as their star player failed to continue his run of good form, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side prepare to face West Brom on Saturday.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
This game has been completely awful. So so boring.

Overall Eriksen has scored 32 goals and provided 35 assists in 140 appearances for the north London club in all competitions.
Pochettino’s side have 17 points after seven games before they travel to West Brom after the international break. They are a point behind leaders City who host Everton.
