Dele Alli scored on Saturday as England completed a comfortable 2-0 victory against Malta – and the Tottenham supporters praised their player on Twitter.

England eased to another three points in their World Cup qualifier and Gareth Southgate will be pleased with his first game in charge.

Alli, 20, scored in the first-half when he cooly finished inside the box from a Jordan Henderson pass.

Daniel Sturridge had opened the scoring with a pinpoint header which nestled into the bottom corner and justified his starting role ahead of Jamie Vardy and Marcus Rashford.

Spurs have made a great start to the new Premier League season and Alli has played a cruical role in the midfield.

The attacking midfielder has grabbed two goals for Spurs in his first seven games and is a vital member of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Alli has enjoyed a fantastic start to his Spurs career after moving to White Hart Lane in 2015 from MK Dons.

He has now made 55 appearances for the Londoners and has an impressive record, scoring 12 goals and supplying 11 assists in all competitions.

Alli has managed to become an important member of the England set-up and his goal against Malta should help his case to keep his starting position in the future.
