Following the news that Tottenham target Vincent Janssen has rejected an approach by West Ham, Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to share their delight.

On Monday, Football Insider reported that West Ham had hoped to hijack their fellow Londoners pursuit of the prolific striker, but had failed.

Dutch publication De Telegraaf claimed the 22-year-old striker received offers from West Ham and French champions Paris Saint-Germain, but he rejected them both in favour of pushing through a move to White Hart Lane.

The Hammers are in the hunt for A-list players as they target Champions League football ahead of their move into the Olympic Stadium.

But Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has sanctioned a new £16.5million bid for Janssen to meet the asking price of AZ Alkmaar and the player is set to head to White Hart Lane.

In one of the most competitive transfer markets in history it is understandable that any indication that a marquee signing might be sealed is celebrated by fans.

The majority of noise from Tottenham fans was delight that a player was so keen to come to the club, rather than just trying to take the most money.

Some have referred to the Dutchman as a legend and have applauded his attitude, while some have laughed at West Ham for thinking Janssen would be interested.

Here are a selection of the messages on Twitter:

But despite the news that Janssen rejected West Ham, there is always a pessimist who predict Spurs will miss out on their man.
