Erik Lamela started the match in the draw against West Brom – and Tottenham fans delivered a ruthless assessment of his performance on Twitter.
Spurs slipped to a 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns and failed to find a spark in front of goal.
Their former player Nacer Chadli looked to have won the game with his goal in the 82nd minute, but Dele Alli snatched a late equaliser to maintain Spurs’ unbeaten start to the league campaign.
Lamela, 24, was substituted off in the second-half and replaced by Heung-Min Son, who was left out of the starting XI to the surprise of fans.
The midfielder struggled to cause a threat against a well organised defence and left the field after a disappointing afternoon.
Tottenham fans revealed their anger about the performance of Lamela and one fan claimed that he looked “unmotivated” during the match.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Lamela has endured a mix start to the new season, scoring two goals and supplying six assists in his first 11 games.
The winger is a regular started under manager Mauricio Pochettino, but several fans feel he is too inconsistent.
He has now made 118 appearances for Spurs since his arrival in 2013 and scored 19 goals.
Spurs managed to preserve the only unbeaten run in the Premier League, but may feel it is two points dropped.
In other Tottenham team news, Pochettino has identified an emerging car who is challenging his senior players.
