Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been named on the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or award – and the club’s supporters were delighted on Twitter.
France Football magazine are revealing the shortlist throughout Monday and Spurs’ captain Lloris has been included on the prestigious list.
The 29-year-old has been selected for the yearly award and the competition is judged solely by a panel of journalists.

Lloris was also joined by PFA Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez of Leicester, as the 30 players are revealed in groups of five.
Spurs supporters revealed their excitement with the goalkeeper’s achievement and some of them even joked that he should win the award, although Cristiano Ronaldo is the bookmakers’ favourite.

Lloris has made 178 appearances for Spurs in all competitions and kept a phenomenal 63 clean sheets.
Spurs currently boast the best defensive record in the league, conceding just four goal from their opening nine games.
Lloris has played in seven of those games and missed a couple of league matches through injury, but his understudy Michel Vorm provided strong back-up.
