Danny Rose has become the latest Tottenham player to commit to a long-term contract – and fans took to Twitter to reveal their delight.

Spurs revealed on their official Twitter account on Thursday morning that Rose had signed a new five-year deal at White Hart Lane.

Rose, 26, has now joined midfield trio Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen in committing his future to the club.

Tom Carroll and Harry Winks, who were selected in central midfield for Wednesday’s 5-0 League Cup win over Gillingham, also signed new contracts last week.

Supporters on social media praised Rose for his recent performances while one fan called him the best left-back in the world.

Here is a selection of the messages on Twitter:

Rose’s new contract will extend his association with Tottenham beyond the 14 year mark after he joined the club aged just 16 in 2007.

The full-back was an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino’s defence last season.

Rose, alongside Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker made up the strongest back-four in the Premier League, conceding just 35 goals in their 38 matches.

The north London club are looking to improve on last season’s third place finish in the new Premier League campaign, while also remaining competitive against Europe’s elite in the Champions League.

In other Tottenham team news, Vertonghen believes he had a good match for Spurs as he was asked to play left-back against Sunderland.
