Georges-Kevin N’Koudou was handed his first start for Tottenham on Tuesday night – and the club’s supporters were disappointed with his performance on Twitter.
Spurs slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool in the EFL Cup fourth-round, with England striker Daniel Sturridge scoring a brace.
The striker opened the scoring in the first-half by reacting quickest in the penalty box and tapping in a deflected shot for the home side, before doubling his advantage after the break.
Vincent Janssen did score from the penalty spot in the 76th minute to make it interesting, but Spurs failed to find a late equaliser.
Both sides made drastic alterations to their teams for the cup games and Mauricio Pochettino made 10 changes to his starting XI, while Jurgen Klopp named a completely different Liverpool side.
N’Koudou played 84 minutes against the Reds before being substituted off and the winger failed to threaten their defence.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
So that's why N'Koudou hasn't been in the team. He's not very good…

N'koudou have been poor tonight. Where is all dat so called speed & trickery? Onomah has also been very poor & lazy as well. #Disappointed

N’Koudou has had plenty of the ball, but his final ball has been so weak. Not sure what the point of bringing on Wanyama is now. Amos debut?

Right now N'Koudou is def an impact player from the bench & can't see the fuss about Onomah yet.

Nkoudou is probably just another Njie. What a waste of time.

N’Koudou made his fifth appearances for Spurs on Tuesday, with the previous four coming as a substitute.
The north London club signed the young Frenchman in the summer and he completed a move from Marseille, with Clinton N’Jie going the other way on a season-long loan deal.
He has struggled for game time at the beginning of his career and has been behind the likes of Erik Lamela, Moussa Sissoko and Christian Eriksen in the pecking order.
N’Koudou was given a big opportunity against Liverpool but fans feel that he failed to deliver any serious threat.
In other Tottenham team news, their attacker is facing a spell on the sidelines after an official decision was made.
