Moussa Sissoko has been named in the starting XI on Wednesday night – and Tottenham fans have said on Twitter that the midfielder needs to impress.

The 27-year-old is currently severing a three-game domestic suspension for elbowing Bournemouth’s Harry Arter, but has been recalled to the side for the European match.

Spurs face a home match against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League group stages and will be looking to better the 0-0 draw from the reverse fixture in Germany.

The north London are currently involved in a fascinating group alongside Monaco, Leverkusen and CSKA Moscow, with the four teams separated by just three points.

They are currently second and still have two of their three games left to play at home against Leverkusen and CSKA, with Spurs using the national stadium Wembley this season.

Spurs supporters believe that Sissoko needs to make the most of his chance after an underwhelming start at the club.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Sissoko moved to White Hart Lane in the summer for £30million and has added depth to Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield.

The former Toulouse midfielder starred at Euro 2016 for France as his country reached the final in front of their own fans before losing 2-0 to Portugal.

However, Sissoko is yet to reach the heights of those performances that had seen him linked to Spanish giants Real Madrid during the summer.

He has made eight appearances across all competitions and is yet to register a goal or an assist.
